wipers quit working the other day so I traced the wire back, after unplugging it from the hot wire, I opened up the 4 small screws that hold the wire into the unit. I used a jumper wire from the hot wire and by passed the plug and small metal part to a inside wire and they worked just fine.
I can't find anything on the wiper motors with an exploded view of the parts. to identify the part. I'm not sure what to try next.
any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: wiper motor problem
That is a radio suppression capacitor, the same as the one the leads into the distributor. It is only there to keep the wiper motor noise from interfering with the radio. These capacitors are starting to go bad a lot more frequently as they age.
