Re: M151A1
A 1980's 151A1 would cost you millions since they stopped making the A1 in 1969! Are you specifically looking for an A1 or an 80's A2? The prices for any 151 are all over the board depending on overall condition, cut or uncut. You can pick up a project vehicle for 2,000 bucks that is all there or you can get one fully restored and turn key for 12,000. And everything in between. There are plenty of good drivers out there for 4-5 grand.

Re: M151A1
Stay away from them, buy a HUMVEE at GOV Planet for $5K, they don't roll as badly as the A1's they made in the 80's .
Rick's exactly correct on pricing with the top dollar going stupid high, sometimes up to 20K+ with every non MUTT part conceivable being bolted on. Would need more info on what your usage plans to be:
-Beater to run for groceries out in the woodlands as an escape vehicle to your Lair? (Cheap)
-Quasi show with post Vietnam era stuff hung all over it and Rollbar? (Expensive)
-Parade vehicle for Vietnam Vets (then you really do need an A1 not an A2 by technical standpoint except TOW MUTT) (Mid range)

Yea, but the Humvee's you get for that price are off road only so what good is that? Although I know a guy who just bought one here in NJ and was offered an SF-97 for 100.00 extra on a 84 so I am really curious to see what comes of that. It is clearly marked as off road use only in the sale.

Re: M151A1
Off Topic, Kentucky is licensing them now, (other post) which means you can always get a road title in some state, then transfer. If they are old enough DMV (here in Va.) doesn't care about titles, just registrations, so there's always a way to get it done.
Saw one the other day needing headlights (plus a top and driver seat cover) go for $3200 on IronPlanet,
Hard not to buy one for parades only if that's the case, even just for off road use would be a good (albeit maint heavy) vehicle.

Ok its an M151A2 or just a M151 would be fine , see I told ya I was on a mission of information ha ha , oh and the what for as in usage well no plan I just want to plunk around town in camo and at the same time enjoy a flashback to 38 years ago .
Not gona go the Humvee route I just don't like em, but I do remember the Humvees of the early 80's
I think I am in the under 3,000 range if I could get a solid complete runner or even non runner I think i'd be in.....
Thanks for the knowledge !

Few other questions,
Whats a Mutt?
Where does one find a 151 for sale?
How rare are the uncut 151's?

Whats a Mutt? An unpedigreed dog of uncertain parentage also a term that sets off many discussions. Sometimes referred to M151 series. Stand by for fun discussions.......
Where does one find a 151 for sale? Military meets, craig's list, ebay, just keep looking. I stumbled over mine on Craig's list when selling another vehicle.
How rare are the uncut 151's? Need more info from someone with more experience than me, my experience is 50/50.
Still crazy after all these years.

MUTT, Multipurpose Utility Tactical Truck
Find then as Old Dodge guy said and in the price range you are looking at the chances of finding an uncut one are very slim. If you do find an uncut in that range it will probably need extensive rust repair. You could get lucky, you never know. Also be aware that these things have no frame, they are unibody and because of that they are entirely made of folded sheet metal. They rust, BIG time so when you go to look at one be sure to look underneath. They also have NO Vin number so if your state requires a title be sure ahead of time that it has a title.

Re: M151A1
$5900 in 2014 is what I spent to buy my running 1967 M151a1 here in No. Ca.
They show up for about 3500-7000 in running condition around my side of the woods.
