And it is possible that it was for driving thru hostile crowds.

That was discussed before, because the sailor with the bad teeth was picked on a bit. It was for shore patrol to pick up mostly drunks in and was easy to wash out the puke.

Do not worry Mariano, there may be some people that did not see the pictures before.
I did not notice the refrigerator behind the two men in the center of this photograph before :D .

Was written earlier that the cage was to keep the locals from grabbing souvenirs from the jeeps when driven slow.
